About

Just Talk is a value added prepaid phone system that allows customers to answer a collect call from GTL, CBS, VAC or any other 3rd party correctional billing system on a cell phone, landline, or VOIP.

A veteran of the telecom industry, Andrew Wise, founded Just Talk when he discovered that the process for answering collect calls from jail was… well, obnoxious.

Andrew had previously owned and operated several cell phone stores around Phoenix, AZ. One day he received a phone call from Maricopa County Jail on his home telephone. It was a friend who was in custody after allegedly selling stolen cell phones. The reason he was calling Andrew: Andrew was the only person he knew that still owned a landline.

In order for his friend to talk to his wife, Andrew would call the wife on his cell phone while holding the home phone end to end with the cell phone. Andrew immediately realized, “This is stupid, I can invent something better than this.” So, he did just that.

Upon inventing a solution to answer collect calls on cell phones. It quickly became apparent that the price for each call was even more obnoxious than the process for answering. After some research, it was discovered that a 15 minute phone call can cost as much as $35.00!

The reason being that the facility phone system operates on an old business model that isn’t keeping up with technology. They only have the ability to bill for phone calls that are answered on a landline. As we all know, this is a dying technology. As of 2010 one third of all US households had made the “wireless substitution.”

Here at Just Talk, it is our belief that communication between inmates and family members provides the most concrete and visible strategy for managing separation and maintaining connections. This communication has been shown to reduce recidivism, and therefore the families of America’s prisoners are the key to a successful rehabilitation.

Just Talk believes maintaining this communication should be simple and convenient. By providing a phone service that allows flexible solutions, our customers will always be able to connect with their loved ones behind bars.
